River Princess
The rain started just as we got onboard the ship - good timing! We had a glass of champagne in the lounge while waiting for our cabins to be ready.
I braved the rain and went for a walk along the river. It's unbelievable how many river boats are here.
There are companies I've never heard of, and the ships are berthed 3 alongside in places. (I must say it's interesting to walk though the different ships!)
Our cabin has a large picture window, but as we are often tied up to other boats you are much better off sitting in one of the public rooms if you want a view. The cabins are cosy, very well designed with lots of storage. Even if you have 2 beds they are right beside each other. ( the beds are very comfortable).
In the public rooms, the decor is mainly black and white. Corridors have old pictures of classic movie stars. The effect is very elegant.
Our group had a little champagne get together at 5pm, then at 6pm the safety talk, then the cruise director talked about the tours for the next day. Dinner at 7pm. I did the local choice menu with roasted chicken and an outstanding Esterhazy Cake for dessert. Local wines complemented the meal.
A fairly early night as we are all tired.
